Good morning and Welcome! to The Fool’s Tarot for 19May2017.  (Year of the Buffoon. Grin.) Using my usual morning spread today, the Basics Modified, the deck used today is *The Mutational Alchemy Tarot* by m1thr0s & Izi Ningishzidda. This from the *Aeclectic website, by “medusawink”: “The Mutational Alchemy Tarot is a striking deck from creators and artists m1thr0s and Izi Ningishzidda. They conceived the deck as a direct descendant of Aleister Crowley's Thoth Tarot. It corrects errors that Crowley made – this is elucidated in the online guidebook. It has elements of Hermeticism, Alchemy, Tantra, Witchcraft, Kabbalah, Feng Shui, I Ching, and particularly incorporates the Tree of Life and I Ching hexagrams into both individual cards and the overall design. The MAT’s creators embraced global cultures and prioritized cultural diversity as part of the decks symbolic language. It is guided by Crowley's Book Of The Law and embraces "Sinister Knowledge" and the Left Hand Path, seeing it as a way to both liberty and equality.” Yeah, this is one of those esoteric decks that goes FAR beyond the ‘normal’ Tarot canon; same structure, though. I like to use this
when I “feel up to it,” so to speak; this deck taxes everything you’ve got to give it and provides incredibly deep, shaded readings. “It ain’t an everyday deck,” suffice to say. Oxnard and Upward! (LOL) The draw today is: Sulfur = III the Empress; Mercury = II the Priestess, and Salt = the Princess of Staves. One (me) might be tempted to think, “WTF? What am I doing here, in II the Empress? There’s been some mistake, DON’T YOU KNOW WHO I AM?” LOLOLOL, not really, that last part, I’m not that blind & arrogant, but I couldn’t resist. The first part is true enough, however; what AM I doing in III at this juncture? (At this point, here’s the deal; before I post this, [so that this remains at the ‘top’] I shall post a page of the ‘manual’ to this deck relevant to these cards. It is only available online at the Mutational Alchemy Institute. In this manner, if you would like to know more about these unusual cards, you can read right on through to the end of the “2nd” post. I’m hoping you’ll find something that intrigues you.) Well, for the greater part of the matter, this isn’t your regular pregnant in summer glowing Empress-in-the-field-with-the-cornucopia-of-Nature-at-her-feet. No siree! This is Tiamat; “In the religion of ancient Babylon, Tiamat is a primordial goddess of the salt sea, mating with Abzû, the god of fresh water, to produce younger gods. She is the symbol of the chaos of primordial creation.” (Wikipedia. [Check out their footnotes if you have the need].) I rather think of her, when she’s embodied like this, as the woman I KNOW is actually there, not that insipid “Queen Jane” of whom the book mocks. “The Empresses” in my life have ALL been Tiamats while none have been “Queen Jane.” Every single one was a being forged of iron in fire, and hard won experience, and they didn’t take shit, they gave it. I’m NOT saying that is the best role model to have of that Archetype, but it is certainly a memorable & impressive one. So when µI think of an Empress; my 1st thought isn’t of Glenda the Good Witch, but more like a cross between Maria-Therese of Austria-Hungary, a masterful politician, and
Livia Augusta, the 2nd wife of Augustus Caesar and the most dangerous woman in the history of the Roman Empire, bar NONE. That is who my animus is visiting today, and the only possible reason I can think of to justify that is for an infusion of burning purpose and a Will for Everything. If so, he is being well met by our Anima today, who is visiting “next door” at II the Priestess’ Temple. There again, I can only surmise that she, too, is “boning up” for the forthcoming Journey, and is doing so that we may depart on our Adventure as well-supplied as a thoughtful person can be. One has to exercise judgement and moderation in ALL things, including improving your chances of reaching your goal. Finally, the engine that is powering our “uploads” and “changes” today is the Princess of Swords, whom the Mutational Alchemy Tarot tells us is “that she likes to stay above the fray. The path on the Hidden Diamond Sutra moves from Binah the Mother down to the male pillar at Chesed. She is unique in this; the Princesses of the other elements descend much lower. She is the servant of Fire, the aspect of the Great Mother which is the fiery wrath of war paired with the righteousness of Chesed. She is Nike, Bia and Kratos, (Victory, Force and Strength) the three sisters of Nyx who were the first to declare their support for Zeus. The combination of Saturn and Jupiter is a dynamic and powerful combination.” (Online LWB) So, that is our “reactor” today, the one who is going to supply the energy for BOTH of us to carry out our “upgrades” and “downloads.” I would say, of both her image & description, that she has plenty for our needs and more. I ask the Cosmos to give us ALL that insight into where our Energy comes from today and how best to use it. Be Well, Be Zen, Be Blessed!!
